QVC is the world’s top multimedia shopping company with millions of viewers and consumers around the globe.
QVC’s mobile applications serve many customers and run on many platforms. QVC wanted to increase the quality of their mobile applications while managing costs. They sought an expert partner to help test and measure those that are critical to their business, in particular the Speed Buy functionality of their iPad application. Although QVC maintains a mature testing organization, they have limited resources and little experience with mobile devices. QVC also wanted ongoing On-Demand software testing services to augment their Quality Assurance organization. In the past QVC contracted with another vendor to augment their QA organization but found resource throughput, turnover and training an issue.
QVC chose Astadia’s Quality Enablement services to test the enterprise’s Mobile Applications and Devices, their WebSphere Commerce platform implementation, and the Speed Buy functionality of their iPad application. Through our state-of-the-art capabilities and custom project solutions at our Quality and Testing lab in Nashua, HN, we provided QVC a cost effective, onshore team with the flexibility to scale up with a team of experienced Testing Professionals during high demand and deadlines.
The scalability of the Astadia team along with a low turnover rate enabled resources to become valued assets to QVC and their Testing initiatives. Ultimately QVC was able to roll out Speed Buy in time for the holiday season after Astadia had successfully tested several areas of the application, including the item selection, cart and purchase functionalities – all important functions for a shopping application, especially during the holidays. Astadia and QVC have formed a solid, trusted partnership since a pilot project in early 2010 led to six additional engagements, including this one.
